Humans think they invented formal education. It’s true, but they weren’t the first. Snakes, for instance, have been sending their young to school for thousands of years…

‘Excellent practice, class. Remember that slithering is both a means of getting from here to there and a way to scare the bejeebers out of some humans. Marcus was our star pupil today — I was so close to jumping out of my skin, I nearly moulted! Roger, a question — what were you doing?’

‘Right angles, sir.’

‘To what purpose?’

‘To make squares.’

‘Geometric slithering is next term. Hold off until then, good lad.’
