I Grew Up + Professor Evil (2 Fer Tuesday)

Prompts = Opulence, Propeller, Estrange

Story 1 — I Grew Up

He knelt, head low, before the alter of his past. In the darkest corner of his 10,000 square-feet opulent mansion, he knelt and repeated his mantra: I’m not who I was. I grew up.

Every possession tried to prove it: wealth, influence, prestige, power. He had it all.

But try as he might, he couldn’t estrange himself from the belief he’d never escaped from being the nerdy, cowardly, pitiful child he’d been.

The colourful propeller beanie he’d worn proudly as a child sat on the alter, staring back at him, seeing him as he feared the world saw him.

Story 2 — Professor Evil

In the midst of the 1950s, a brilliant but erratic villain nearly ended life on Earth: Professor Evil.

As he climbed into his getaway vehicle, the aircraft with four propellers spinning in readiness to carry him away in opulent luxury, he told his henchmen, “The world that estranged me shall become a wasteland when I burn away the atmosphere supporting the life on this world!”

Apparently, one of the henchmen responded with something like “Too bad you’ll be flying through it.”

Which seemed to give the Professor pause, before he began running towards the airplane hanger screaming for a phone.
