Prompts = Blindfold, Climb, Pachyderm

I’m Walter Edgebottom and this is Odd Historical Theories.

Mildred Hotchkins has long wondered how the Carthaginian general Hannibal was able to get elephants over the Alps in order to sack Rome during the Second Punic War.

‘So I was thinking, if I was a multi-ton pachyderm and I didn’t want to climb snow-capped peaks, I don’t think I would, even if mice were trying to herd me up them. So I think Hannibal, clever bugger he was, used enormous blindfolds to prevent the elephants from seeing the mountains.’

Up next, theories about the world’s first secret society.
