The Merry Madrigal

Prompts = Ceramic, Silver, Pluck

Matt’s Music Emporium’s door was flung open in dramatic fashion. The figure who walked through wore an outfit that must have been made by drunken medieval tailors from silken scraps scrounged from a dumpster.

‘I am the Merry Madrigal! I require a worthy instrument!’

Without looking over, Matt said, ‘A madrigal is a cappella.’

Raymond turned theatrically. ‘All good madrigals are cappellas!’

‘“A cappella” means sung without instruments.’

‘But I require a lute! I’ll pluck the silver strings strung across its ceramic body during my one-man show!’

‘No ceramic lutes here, just wooden ones. Familiar with our rental plans?’
