‘And now business news with Bill Shine from the trading floor of the Wall Street Stock Exchange. Bill.’

‘Hi Chuck. Today’s big story is the tremendous leap in cryptocurrency prices driven by Iran’s spinning up of uranium centrifuges, massive tornadoes across the Heartland, melting of the polar ice sheets, the rediscovery of Atlantis, and the impending invasion by the Cyclops race of Mossport 50. The market was spooked into assets that have no intrinsic value whatsoever. Back to you, Chuck.’

‘Thanks, Bill. And to our viewers, we’ll update you on those stories and more at 11. Thanks for watching. Goodnight.’

Story 2 — When You’re A Cyclops

‘When you’re a cyclops, you’re a cyclops all the way…’

The life of a mythical blacksmith who happened to be real (and refined) was lonely. At least he could sing modified show tunes freely.

The tools of his trade had improved since he’d made Zeus’ thunderbolts and Ares’ helmet; hammer and anvil were still important, but so were radiation labs and centrifuges. It was more chemistry than anything else nowadays.

The hard part was getting importing materials; export controls from legitimate sources were a headache. Thankfully, the internet and cryptocurrency helped ensure a steady supply of rare elements, like plutonium.
