Story New — Accordion Cathedral
‘On this episode of “Eccentrics”, with one accord we tour Nathan Uberwertzer’s collection of accordions.’
Franklin sat up straight; he hoped this episode of the Netflix show would be interesting.
After the cheesy intro, the camera panned across hundreds of instruments, including an entire dog-themed section. Meanwhile the host interviewed Nathan:
‘You call this your Accordion Cathedral, which is an odd name given that normally we associate pipe organs with cathedrals.’
Nathan answered. ’I think it’s appropriate, given that accordions are essentially small organs. They both have bellows. And keys.’
Franklin watched raptly. This was a promisingly good episode.

Story Old — untitled (originally published here)
Excerpt from Sociology Today, Nov 2018 edition, page 32, Article Summary, by Norman Gerverburder, PhD.:
“Sociologists have recently found that among all the classifications of humans, accordion players are perhaps one of the oddest. Much like bagpipes players, they can hear sounds that are inaudible to all living things, except perhaps exceptionally small species of dog.
Where a “baseline” human hears a rather wheezy and hollow sound that tries and fails to match the quality of an ancient piano, the player hears a symphony of sound, worthy of concert halls and cathedrals.
Further study into this phenomenon is encouraged.”
