A classic back-to-school essay topic is “What I did on my summer vacation”. I know I wrote various versions of it during my time in elementary school. I don’t remember what I wrote each time, but I’m sure it was written impatiently, probably even poorly, trying to get it done as quickly as possible.
So what highlight might end up in the essays these days? Binge watching YouTube? Playing Fortnight? Binge watching people playing Fortnight?
Or maybe school kids are making video essays, showing what they did. Which means adding commentary to their recorded livestreams of playing Fortnight.

‘Tony?’
‘Yes?’
‘Did you remember to add a travel vacuum to the list?’
‘Yes. But why do we need that?’
‘Have you ever seen the state of most hotel rooms? I want the highlight of our vacation to be wine tasting, not fighting dust bunnies when they crawl out from under the bed when the lights go out.’
‘But we’ll only be there a few days.’
‘You think dust bunnies take time off? That they’ll give us a pass because our reservation is shorter than other ones?’
‘I’ll bring the travel vacuum.’
‘And a gallon of windex.’
‘Whatever you like.’
