Prompts = Seat, History, Terminology
I’m Walter Edgebottom and this is Odd Historical Theories.
Tonight we feature Stuart John Mill’s thoughts on what he considers a strange bit of terminology:
The seat of government. What an odd , but apt, turn of phrase. It’s the building where the mayor, governor, or prime minister works. But the seat in my living room is where my butt settles before I watch TV.
You know where I’m going.
What I want to know is who connected the dots between my comfy chair and governmental politics.
Not much of a theory, I’m afraid.
Stay tuned — we talk King Arthur next.
