Monica’s mom wondered where her “sugar, spice, and everything nice” daughter had gone. Not that she was difficult. Anything but, really. But… what was it with this meat kick?
It made it difficult to celebrate important events.
In short, what do you serve for dessert when birthday cakes are no longer welcome?
And then, inspiration:
Don’t fight it. Embrace it.
If meat is welcome, then make that the tradition.
Which is where the new tradition of “Steak Cake” came from. This year’s was topped with seventeen butterflied shrimp (one for each year). And thankfully, there’s enough leftover “cake” for tomorrow.
Story Old = Seafaring Storyteller

Of all the storytellers that live in the sea, not one kind is more full of tales, both tall and true, than water molecules. And of them all, the ultimate social butterfly is one particular molecule named M’kewl.
On this particular day M’kewl was talking the ear off of a shrimp who was busy eating by sticking her head in an ocean vent (it’s unclear if the shrimp was sticking her head deeper into the vent to drown him out). M’kewl was listing off the seventeen mountains he wants to climb.
The shrimp shrugged and kept on pretending to eat.
