Ed considered what area of linguistics, which specialty of that vast subject, would he dive deeper into than those who had come before to earn a PhD?
Eventually, he chose to focus on Latin.
Not the dead language spoken in the Roman Empire a thousand years ago that is currently only spoken by Catholic priests.
He chose other sub-languages to study.
Pig Latin, for example, or Igpay Atinlay, as its known by those fluent in it.
Another sub-language simply adds “us” to every word, making it “Latinus Usus”.
The initial meeting with his advisor happens tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
