‘Bob, you look depressed. Let me get you a cup of coffee.’

‘Cut!’

Production stopped. Eyes rolled. Heads turned towards the Executive Producer.

‘Does it make sense for Cheryl to offer Bob a coffee? Aren’t we alienating the tea-drinking population?’

The director, exhausted, asked, ‘What do you want to do?’

‘Make the drink nondescript. She should make a hot beverage.’

‘Sure. Ok. Reset everyone!’

A minute later, the Producer stopped things again. ‘This shot is now being sponsored by Exquisite Coffee. Edit that in. Now we’re justified in using coffee.’

‘Sure. Sure. Roll ‘em!’
