Tickle Therapy + Of Rights And Lefts (2 Fer Tuesday)

Prompts = Taste, Hand, Insane

Story 1 — Tickle Therapy

My five-year-old was misbehaving from hungry boredom and I was tired and trying to cook dinner. And then I had an insane thought…

‘Ben! Come give me a hand.’

‘What is it?’

‘A hand. Yours. Open it up.’

He did.

‘Wait… I need you to taste something and this won’t work. Sorry. Close hand, open mouth.’

He did. Wide.

‘Now, does this taste funny?’

He shook his head.

‘I don’t mean funny strange. I mean funny haha. You aren’t laughing, so maybe I need to add tickles!’

Ten minutes of tickle therapy and we were both feeling better.

Story 2 — Of Rights and Lefts

They say that the left hand shouldn’t know what the right hand is doing.

Or at least the right one does; says it to me repeatedly, the left hand. Worse, it keeps insisting it developed first and that I have to listen to my elders.

It’s insane.

It keeps talking about a taste for adventure, a thirst for life, an appetite for travel, getting away from it all.

I keep saying we need to be patient, that in another month or so, there’s this thing called “birth” and apparently we’ll be quite busy after that happens.

I can only hope.
