A Viking Wedding Reception

Prompts = Tankard, Smithing, Quartz

Did you know there’s a big population of Swedish people in northern Minnesota? I found out when I attended a wedding up there.

The theme of the reception was “Vikings”. We all wore silly Viking garb: helmets, cloaks, the whole bit. But it was the party favours that were the big hit: custom-made tankards.

Some attendees did their own smithing. For those of us from out-of-town, craftspeople quickly created pewter vessels.

And apparently I won a very manly award — I accidentally ate something called Surstromming (sour herring) and didn’t gag. I got a quartz tankard for that.
