Odd Historical Theories - Machu Picchu

Prompts = Undermine, Catalyst, Idea

I’m Walter Edgebottom and this is Odd Historical Theories.

Tonight we feature Mark Spencer’s Machu Picchu theory:

The city wasn’t built, it was revealed. The stone was already there; the walls and things were made using lichen as a catalyst to dissolve unwanted material, undermining surrounding rock, leaving only what was needed. Time-consuming, but environmentally responsible.

A century later it was abandoned. I believe the reason for this was that the city council announced an expansion project. No one wanted to pay the extra tax, so the inhabitants left in protest.

Next week, Dinah Shore speculates on Mount Olympus.
