‘Simone, please come to the board and demonstrate how we solve this mathematical dilemma.’
Students twittered and chuckled and whispered, but no one stood up. The teacher, busy reading a congratulatory text, slowly became aware of the algebra problem waiting to be completed.
‘Simone?’
Students shrugged, but also smirked. Someone said, ‘Search me.’
Ms. Abercrombe knew something was up.
‘Rupert, let the office know Simone is missing. The rest of you, Chapter 6, problem 12.’
Shortly after, there was a crowd singing “Happy Birthday” in the hallway. Simone led the entire student body into the classroom to serenade Ms. Abercrombe.
