“Unsettling” is a gross understatement of the feelings that result from finding out that your supposedly secret location where the enemy’s coded messages are deciphered is no longer secret.
“Afraid” is also an understatement for the anxious terror resulting from reasoning that your previously safe and secure office is now an active target; bombers are probably already in the air.
“Aghast” hits closer to home when it’s revealed that, in order to make it appear the attack has been successful, in service to a disinformation campaign, some people need to stay behind.
“Tears” are what I shed as I volunteer.
