The Dinner

Prompts = Asparagus, Ginger, Martini

This dinner was the most important one Larry would ever host. Dish after dish were set to be served: martinis, lobster bisque, salad, ginger chicken, steamed asparagus, homemade bread, and creme brûlée. His best china, silver, and crystal were polished and ready.

Every detail was vital; his boss and coworkers were coming for dinner.

Tie and jacket were adjusted just before answering the door.

Everyone paused. Larry saw face painted sports fans.

‘I thought we’re going to watch the game.’ Larry’s boss looked confused.

‘I… uh…’, Larry stuttered.

Someone said, ‘Smells good.’

They all watched the game, fine-dining style.

Cooking With Chef Claire

‘Bonjour mesdames et messieurs. Je m’appelle Chef Claire et c’est Cooking Avec Claire. Today we’ll cook crevettes, en Anglais “prawns”, avec ginger, honey, et vegetables.

‘Je suis une culinary artiste alors I like to highlight le ginger, bring out its unique value in contrast to the honey sweetness. And trust me, it is well worth it. Ooh la la!

‘Tomorrow, we cook coq au vin. Au revoir!’

Marge turned off the cameras and the kitchen appliances, sat heavily, and drained a glass of red. ‘Oy vey, my back. My bunions. I’m getting too old for this. Maybe I’ll retire soon.’
