Story 1 — Pixie Dust
The family singalong stopped as the engine coughed and died, forcing them to pull over. Thankfully the cellphone had service; at tow truck was on its way.
Mom, Dad, and the two young children stayed upbeat while they waited. But Tommy wanted to know why the car had stopped. After all, the twinkle and sparkle of pixie dust glitter he’d put into the gas tank would make the car go faster.
Dad looked at Mom who looked at Dad; at least there was no longer a mystery as to how to fix the car: time to purge the fuel line.

Story 2 — The Death Of Belief
The Internet. Who made it? Why?
The Tooth Fairy slumped heavily into a lounger. A small puff of dust engulfed her.
When did children become so cynical? So greedy? So disbelieving in magic and fantasy and wonder?
When had belief been purged so completely?
Poor Santa, his sled is looking more and more spaceship-like with every passing year; the reindeer are busy writing resumes. Watching the Eater Bunny pop Prozac is depressing.
A PR consultant had suggested adding “twinkle and sparkle” to her “routine”. Apparently, leaving coins under pillows isn’t enough. Oh — I need social media pages now too.
